STEVE KILLICK
STORYTELLER
Marvelous Metaphorical Medicine
Steve works in schools, theatres, hospitals, community centres and many more places besides. He has been performing stories for many years calling upon his experiences as a child psychologist, writer and his work as a clown, street entertainer and circus performer (but that was a very long time ago......)
He is particularly interested in storytelling in education and therapy. Storytelling, listening and making are great and natural ways to help children develop emotional literacy, a subject that Steve has written considerably about. In 2007 he published 'Telling Tales:Storytelling as Emotional Literacy' with Taffy Thomas, the first Storytelling Laureate in the UK, as well as other books, videos and articles which contains many traditional tales. He is currently working on a collection of Indian stories for publication. Steve is on the Academi database of writers in Wales and is an an associate member of StoryWorks.
Steve has performed and taught storytelling all over the UK including The Lakeland Storytelling Festival, Bristol Storytelling Festival, the Scottish Storytelling Network, Bristol University and Dartington Hall. He has also given workshops on storytelling in education and therapy for the British Psychological Society Faculty for Children and Young People and the Association of Family Therapy National Conferences and worked with many different groups using storytelling.
